By December 15 in the student’s second year, the Doctoral Coordinator for the student’s department, in consultation with the student’s adviser, provides the student with a written evaluation. This evaluation includes one of the following statements:
- The area faculty consider the student’s progress satisfactory.
- The area faculty believe that the student needs to improve his or her performance in order to complete the program.
- The area faculty advise the student to withdraw.
