March 21: Lei's Letter to RBS Staff Members
Dear RBS Staff Members,
As of 5:00 PM last Wednesday (3/18/2020), RBS has certified to the University our readiness for remote instruction starting Monday, 3/23/2020. To meet the demand of 10,000 RBS students, we have 839 course sections this Spring, with 218 full-time faculty and 161 PTLs across two RU campuses, two satellite locations (Jersey City and Morristown), and two international sites (Singapore and China). This large and complex operation covers:
- 280 Masters (school 22) course sections
- 30 PhD (school 26) course sections
- 244 (school 29) Newark Undergrad course sections
- 285 (school 33) New Brunswick Undergrad course sections
- 10 sections in Jersey City (school 22)
- 5 sections in Morristown (school 22)
- 11 sections in Singapore (school 22, IEMBA program)
- 11 sections at the County College of Morris (school 29)
- 18 sections for RUNIN program (school 29)
Transitioning from in-person teaching to 100% remote-instruction within a short lead time has been a major challenge. RBS would not be able to make this transition without your effort, directly or indirectly. We thank you!
Many of you have started telecommuting and working hard from home to carry out your job functions. Please work closely with your supervisors to ensure the success of RBS academic continuity. The RBS reputation and operational performance depend on you, our students and faculty depend on you, and we depend on you. While working from home, you are not alone. Remember that many of us are reachable 24/7 to help you for critical issues during this special time.
