Internship/Co-Op for Credit - Undergraduate Newark

What is the Internship for Credit Program at RBS?

  • A process where you work at a professional organization to gain hands-on experience while simultaneously earning college credit toward your degree.
  • A program that allows students to integrate classroom theory with real-world professional skills. These experiences can happen in the fall, spring, and summer terms at RBS. Internship for credit is not offered in the winter term.

Internships vs. Co-Ops

  • An internship is at least 8 weeks in duration, with a minimum of 130 hours worked, earning 3 credits.
  • A co-op is longer in duration, with a minimum of 510 hours worked and a 17-week consecutive duration, earning 6 credits.
  • Internships/co-ops can be found through networking, recruiting events, or on platforms such as Handshake, CareerKnight, or LinkedIn.

Internship for Credit Course

  • The RBS Internship for Credit course is an academic course paired with a professional internship/co-op experience.
  • To earn credit, you MUST enroll in an asynchronous class that requires several written assignments and related submissions. The course runs concurrently with your internship/co-op. Performance in this class garners a letter grade toward your GPA.
  • You may not earn credit for an internship previously completed.
  • Download and review a sample syllabus
