RBS Business Plan Competition

The 2021-2022 RBS Annual Business Plan Competition is up and running. This year the total cash prizes have been increased to $50,000.

The first step is to send in a 1-page executive summary to Professor Brownstone anytime from September 1 to December 1, 2021. The earlier you submit, the better so we can log you in and review your summary.

Several executive summaries will be chosen and asked to submit a full business plan per the rules on this site. These business plans will be presented on our pitch day in early 2022 for the $50,000 in prizes.

Eligibility Open to all RBS students. Some restrictions apply for team leadership roles.
Location Newark Campus, 1 Washington Park
Participation 50 to 100 students and alumni
Sponsored by Sales Executive Club of Northern New Jersey Foundation

Objectives

The objective of the annual Business Plan Competition is to encourage student entrepreneurs and support the growth of jobs in New Jersey. In order to compete for the business competition prizes, there must be a serious intent to launch the proposed business. While the competition is open to current Rutgers University students, the leadership roles in the business venture must be filled by one of the three eligible categories: Rutgers Business School senior undergraduate students, current MBA students, recent graduates, and recent MBA alumni. For those current Rutgers University students who are not in one of the three eligible leadership categories, you can still compete in the competition. We can match you with a team of eligible members. Alternatively, if you are in one of the eligible leadership categories that would like to join the competition, we can match you with a team. Individuals or teams of up to five students/alumni can enter the competition.

The competition is supported by the Sales Executives Club of Northern New Jersey Foundation, which will provide total cash prizes of $50,000. Judges will be selected from Rutgers Business School MBA Alumni who have succeeded in entrepreneurial endeavors.

Compete for $50,000 in prizes

Registration for the competition will occur upon submission of the One Page Executive Summary, which will summarize the business plan in layman's terms.
