The rules below apply to the 8th Annual Rutgers Business School Biopharmaceutical MBA Case Competition. All team members are expected to abide by these rules.
By successful completion of a team application, all team members agree to the Rutgers Business School Biopharmaceutical MBA Case Competition rules.
Pre-Competition Rules
Teams must be finalized and submitted through the Rutgers Business School Biopharmaceutical Case Competition email by Friday, October 11 at 5:00 PM EST. Teams will be notified on October 25th of their application status. Please email Rutgers.Pharmaclub@gmail.com for more information.
Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted, except at the discretion the PMC board
Team composition: 3 to 4 MBA students (may include both full-time and part-time students). All students must attend the same university.
Case: The case will be sent to teams via primary team email address. Exact details of how the case will be distributed will be sent to the primary team email address when a team is accepted into the competition
External Assistance: Team members may use any reference sources/materials in the public domain in conducting their research. Teams may seek help from anyone prior to the competition in order to prep for the case. However, once the case is distributed on November 14, 2019, teams may not receive any help or support from any faculty or industry professionals. Essentially, once the case is distributed, teams are on their own to solve the case and create their presentations.
Expenses: All travel and lodging expenses are the sole responsibility of the participating team.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided on Friday, November 22, 2019.
Competition Rules
Case will be sent to primary team email by noon on Thursday, November 14, 2019
Case material submission: Case slides are due via email by 5:00 PM EST on Thursday, November 21, 2019 to Rutgers.Pharmaclub@gmail.com (teams will receive a receipt confirmation email).
Each team will be assigned a Team ID (team color) and are required to display the ID (team color) on the title slide of their presentation. No school colors, mascot, logo, or any other school references should be included in the presentation materials. This includes PowerPoint slides, posters, clothing, documents, or verbal cues. Each team participant is forbidden to tell the judges their respective school affiliations until after the winners have been announced at the Awards Banquet on the night of Friday, November 22, 2019.
The selection of the order of team presentations will be determined by a random drawing at the kickoff event on the morning of the competition (November 22, 2019).
Case presentation logistics:
Presentation: Presentations may be controlled via keyboard or a remote clicker (will be provided), and will be loaded by a case competition committee member.
Presenters: Each team will select its presenter or presenters. All members of the presenting team are required to remain present during the presentation.
Timing:
20 minutes maximum: Present case analysis
10 minutes maximum: Q&A with judge
Timing will be strictly adhered to and only a 5 minute warning will be given. Any leftover time will be utilized as the judging panel sees fit.
There will be a 10 minute break between each presentation
Teams may not view other teams’ presentations during the case competition.
We recommend that teams do NOT discuss their case presentation or case content with other teams until all teams have presented.
Judging
Each team will be judged by a group of representatives from each sponsoring company of the case competition.
The panel will be most interested in understanding how your team came to your case recommendations, the feasibility of implementing such recommendations, and your team’s ability to present and support your findings.

Prizes will be awarded in the following manner: Check made payable to each team member in equal amounts
Professional behavior is expected. Each team is required to maintain the highest standards of integrity throughout the competition. Any violation of the above rules or breaches of integrity will subject a team to immediate disqualification.
