The requirements for Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate–New Brunswick (RBS-UNB) programs of study can be divided into three parts. All three parts are required to earn the Bachelor of Science degree.
Important Notes
To receive a degree from the Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate-New Brunswick, students must take at least 45 business credits at the Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate–New Brunswick.
- A maximum of 18 transfer credits can be applied to the business core. This includes courses taken at RBS-Newark and RBS-Camden.
- A maximum of 9 transfer credits can be applied to the major core and electives. This includes courses taken at RBS-Newark. These courses cannot be taken at RBS-Camden.
Please Note: There are four courses offered by the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS)whose titles are similar to courses offered by Rutgers Business School(RBS). However, these SEBS courses do not fulfill RBS degree requirements and will not count toward completion of an RBS degree.

- Business Finance I (11:373:351)
- Business Finance II (11:373:451)
RBS students are not permitted to declare a second major or a minor in the Environmental Business and Economics program at SEBS due to the overlap of the above-listed courses with required RBS courses.
Rutgers Core
All RBS-UNB students must complete the following Rutgers Core Curriculum:
- Contemporary Challenges (two courses)
- Areas of Inquiry (six courses)
- Cognitive Skills and Processes (five courses)
All courses must be at least 3 credits and must be taken for degree credit. Pass/no credit courses may not be used to fulfill these requirements.

External transfer students who have earned an associate’s degree (A.A. or A.S.) from an institution compliant with the New Jersey Statewide Transfer Agreement (Lampitt Law) will have the Rutgers Core requirements waived.
Foundational Core
All RBS-UNB students must complete the following Foundational Core courses (12-13 credits):
- Introduction to Microeconomics (3)
- Introduction to Macroeconomics (3)
- Calculus (3-4)
- Introductory Statistics (3)
Business Core & Major Requirements
The major requirements for Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate-New Brunswick programs of study can be divided into two parts: business core course requirements that all students must complete regardless of their choice of major program and a combination of required and elective courses that students take according to their choice of major. Students must complete the program requirements that are in effect at the time of their admission into the major. All core courses and required courses specific to the major must be completed with a grade of C or higher.
