Net Impact

The mission of Net Impact at RBS is to equip our cohorts with the ability and insights to forge socially responsible and environmentally sustainable businesses and programs for the future.

To that end Net Impact RBS is committed to providing its members, and the student body as a whole, with an array of opportunities that will empower Rutgers’ graduate students to:

  1. Positively impact their surroundings
  2. Distinguishing themselves as candidates with knowledge of the triple bottom line and it’s real world advantages
  3. Act ethically in challenging situations
  4. Foster connections with a national network of Net Impact members

Ty Samson
Ty Samson

From his academic and professional background as a Geoscientist, Ty has nurtured a deep connection to the natural world and the ecosystems that fuel it. This, coupled with his personal passion for sustainability, has led him to focus on the strategic intersection of climate, sustainability, and business. He firmly believes that decarbonizing supply chains is not just an environmental imperative but also a driver of growth, innovation, and profitability for businesses worldwide. As president of the Net Impact Club, Ty is committed to leveraging his expertise and enthusiasm to connect the Rutgers MBA community to the global sustainability network.

Mariam Taiyebi

An aspiring entrepreneur with a passion for sustainable baking, I am dedicated to opening my own bakery that not only delights taste buds but also prioritizes environmental consciousness. Drawing from my experience as a middle school teacher, where I served as the Environmental Club advisor for two years, I bring a unique blend of educational and eco-conscious perspectives to my entrepreneurial endeavors. Dedicated to uniting my passion for baking with eco-friendly practices, my goal is to establish a culinary enterprise that also makes a positive impact on our planet.

Laura Sefcik
Laura Sefcik

Laura is a full-time MBA student specializing in Supply Chain Management. Prior to pursuing her MBA, she worked as a high school and middle school teacher in northern NJ. As treasurer for the Net Impact club, she aims to combine her experience working with various communities within education with knowledge from the Supply Chain Management program.  In doing so, she aspires to make a meaningful and positive contribution to the business community.
