For Non-Rutgers Business School Students
According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), there are eight essential career readiness competencies that students should acquire to enhance their prospects for success in the workforce post-graduation. These competencies are highly valued by employers across various industries and job functions. These competencies include communication, critical thinking, equity & inclusion, leadership, professionalism, teamwork, and IT technology. The Leadership and Communication Minor offers courses designed to equip students with these competencies upon graduation and prepare them to launch and develop a successful career.
The Leadership and Communication Minor program will provide Rutgers students with access to the expertise of highly accomplished faculty from both RBS and SASN.
The learning objectives of the minor are:
- Demonstrate proficient verbal and written communication skills along with effective time and conflict management skills.
- Evaluate the complexities and best practices for working in diverse teams, considering team dynamics.
- Utilize skills such as critical thinking, effective dialogue, and conflict management to navigate cross-cultural situations adeptly.
- Engage in discussions on the concept of culture and the formation of race in the United States, with a focus on fostering awareness of cultural identity, equity, and inclusion.
- Identify various ethical frameworks and principles to make informed and responsible decisions aligned with personal values.
