Mission

The RUBY program ignites career success with powerful insights, expert guidance, and the drive to excel in both professional and personal life.

About RUBY

The RUBY program annually engages students from about 5-6 high schools, with visits to Rutgers University scheduled three times a year—in January, March, and May. These visits cater to students across their sophomore, junior, and senior years, offering them valuable experiences and insights to support their academic and career goals.

Through these visits, students return to campus for specialized workshops focused on navigating the business world and preparing for college. These sessions advocate for the dynamic field of business and provide essential preparation for transitioning into higher education. The RUBY program offers insights into different business schools, including Rutgers Business School, and equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently step into their college journey and future careers.

First Visit:

During the first visit, students from different grades receive tailored experiences to match their level of exposure to the business world. Sophomores are introduced to the fundamentals of business, juniors delve deeper into business concepts, and seniors engage in more advanced activities related to market trends and business strategies. Each group gains insights relevant to their academic stage, enhancing their understanding of the business landscape.

Second Visit:

During the second visit, the RUBY program enhances students' understanding of the academic landscape by inviting professors from Rutgers Business School. These faculty members provide valuable insights into the learning styles and academic expectations at the business school, helping students envision their future educational journey. In addition to engaging with faculty, students participate in workshops focused on essential career skills, including mastering interview techniques and crafting effective resumes. This comprehensive experience aims to prepare students for both academic success and professional advancement, bridging the gap between high school and their future careers.

Third Visit:

During the third visit, juniors focus on navigating the college application process, particularly for Rutgers Business School and other institutions. They receive personalized guidance from current Rutgers Business School students, who mentor them through applications and share their own college experiences. This visit also features an exciting scavenger hunt with hands-on activities across various business majors, including accounting, marketing, finance, supply chain management, and leadership and management. Additionally, representatives from prominent companies such as Deloitte and Johnson & Johnson are invited to speak about their businesses and hiring practices, providing students with real-world perspectives on career opportunities. To conclude the visit, students enjoy a comprehensive tour of Rutgers Business School, offering them a closer look at the campus and facilities they might soon call home.
